Here’s how it works:

Note: Each listing is paid up front for the whole year by the business, so each affiliate receives a single commission for a single listing, not on a monthly basis. The actual payments per month are the collective commissions from all the sales made that month; for example: if one month the affiliate makes six sales of $99 listings, they receive $118.80 in a lump sum for that month. If the next month they sell four $99 listings, they will receive $79.20. So each month's commissions are paid at one time in one lump sum, and the commission from a listing is paid to the affiliate all at once, and not on a monthly basis. 

Businesses: When you become an affiliate, you bring in additional income as you promote the website from the commissions made under your affiliate link or code.

Individuals: Even if you do not have a website, you can promote the website offline and receive the commissions from each sale you make, just be sure that businesses use your name or affiliate code upon signup.
